List of open source and free software as of 21st July 2009

Righto, this is my second post, i noe the 21st July 2009 thingy is A BIT outdated but me and my friend created this list for some school project then, so i thought i will put it into good use by posting it here. You can duplicate this is put it on everywhere you like but pls inform me via commenting or dropping me a email, yes this is the idea of opensource... I spent quite some effort on this and my firefox crashed twice when i tried pasting this.

Operating Systems
- Linux Ubuntu Version 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) (Ubuntu rocks! Far better than any Windows or Mac operating system)
- Fedora Version 11

Office Systems
- AbiWord (Something like Microsoft Word)
- OpenOffice.org Suite Version 3.1.0 (Something like Microsoft Office but rocks much more)

Antivirus Software
- ClamWin Free Antivirus
- AVG Free Version 8.5
- Avast! Home Edition

System Utilities
- Ccleaner (Cleans up useless junk on your system)
- 7zip (Compressor Software)

Web Browsers
- Mozilla Firefox Version 3.5.1 (The best browser ever!)
- Google Chrome (Very fast but quite buggy)
- SeaMonkey Internet Suite – Comprises of a web browser, a email client, a webpage builder and a IRC based chat (This is the revived version of Netscape Navigator, and is based on the source code of Mozilla, it got a web page builder having almost the same functions as Adobe Dreamweaver)
- Opera Version 9.64 (Fast and compact browser)

Website Builders
- BlueVoda Website Builder (Very excellent website builder, in fact it is even better than Adobe Dreamweaver, though it need some practice to get familiar with its interface)
- SeaMonkey Composer (This is part of the SeaMonkey Internet Suite as mentioned above, and this is the webpage builder I was talking about just now)
- My Free Website Builder (This is a typical ‘What You See Is What You Get’ website builder, everything in it is around the same as SeaMonkey Composer except for the user interface)

Email Clients
- Mozilla Thunderbird Version 2.0.0.22 (The best email client anyone can ever have)
- Evolution Mail (It originated in Linux but is available for Windows as well)

FTP Clients
- FileZilla FTP Client (A FTP client that transfers files much faster than dragging files from one window to another)

Dictionaries and Educational Software
- WordWeb Version 5.52 (A dictionary software)
- The Sage Dictionary and Thesaurus Version 3.1.2
- Google Earth Version 5.0.11733.9347 (A mapping software for Geography)

Mind Mapping Software
- FreeMind Version 0.81 (A simple concept map software)
- OpenOffice.org Draw Version 3.1.0 (Excellent piece of mind mapping software, definitely worth trying)
- CmapTools Version 5.03 (Not so good as compared to the above two software)

Programming Software
- Dev-C++ (The best C++ programming software ever)

Audio Recording and Editing Software
- Audacity Version 1.2.6 (It comes with many functions, and you can even get more by downloading plug-ins for it)

Internet Safety Software
- Blue Coat K9 Web Protection Version 4.0.288 (This software protects you from any sort of inappropriate content in the Internet, and also blocks malware while you are surfing)
- McAfee Site Advisor Version 2.9.258 (Virus and spyware filter)
- AVG Link Scanner (Virus and spyware filter)

Replacement for Adobe CS4
- BlueVoda Website Builder (Replacement for Adobe Dreamweaver as mentioned above, and it is even better and more user-friendly than Dreamweaver)
- SeaMonkey Composer (Replacement for Adobe Dreamweaver as mentioned above)
- GIMP 2.6.6 (Very good replacement for Adobe Photoshop, and has roughly the same number of functions)
- Paint.NET (Replacement for Adobe Photoshop, this is a compact software for simple image retouching)
- Pencil Version 0.4.4b (Open source alternative for Adobe Flash, it is a very simple and compact software and lacks many feature as compared to Adobe Flash)
